Magnolia, Prairie Tales, and More

We've been busy writing new music. We like what we have so far so we're starting to think about getting back into the studio to begin work our second project. We're planning some new shows too, so much to do, so little time...

PRAIRIE TALES

It took some time to get it together, but our new EP entitled "Prairie Tales" is out today. It has some music that is very close to our hearts, recorded during the Magnolia Waltz album sessions. We had too many songs to put on the album so we decided to leave these off and release them separately. Please check them out, and download them too THEY'RE FREE!

Much Love,
Laura and Steve

New Music

Just wanted to let everyone know, we're releasing a three song EP in the near future. We recorded the songs live in the studio and they mean a lot to us, since they capture the mood and performance at the moment we did them. We wanted to put them out together since they're kind of unique and done in the same way. Also, they will be free to download! We'll update you soon.

Happy New Year!

We are very excited about our direction in 2013!  We're working on our event calendar and will be posting upcoming shows.  Release of a few singles for download through Noisetrade is also in the horizon.  Please stay tuned!

Christmas Show

Hi Everybody, We just played a Christmas show here in San Francisco for the homeless. They get put out of their shelters at about 6:30AM and are generally out on the streets for the rest of the day. Well, some religous and social groups get together every year, send vans around the city early in the morning to pick people up, bring them to a community center, give them a hot breakfast, lunch, presents, music and more, until about 3PM. It's a big effort for these groups as it's Christmas day and not always easy to pull off. We were honored to be a part of it, playing Christmas songs, and a few of our originals, to get the day off to a hight spirited start. Thanks to all who were there, and we hope everyone's Christmas was merry!

Going Down To The Crossroads

I just got back from a great trip with my friend Terry. We spent a couple of days around Clarksdale, Mississippi and found the crossroads, immortalized by Robert Johnson in his song Crossroads Blues. At least that's where they think he was singing about - lot's of crossroads there though... No markers or anything, just some gas stations and stores at each corner. Also went to Robert Johnsons grave site. Or at least one of the posiible grave sites, seemed well documented though and a bit like Jim Morrison's grave in Paris, empty liquor and beer bottles, guitar picks, flowers, notes, and other stuff on and around it. Felt a deep musical connection though, and was very moved by it. I highly reccommend it for blues lovers. - Steve

Great Time!

We had a great time at the Pacifica Fog Fest. For the first time, we had two percussionists playing with us and they sounded fantastic, a big shoutout to Dana Burt who laid the beats down beautifully and to Nathan McKenzie, Steve's son, who played rock solid with a great feel! We'll post some pics as soon as we can. A big THANK YOU to everybody who came out to see us, we are most grateful for that and look forward to doing it again soon!
Tell Us
    • I have known Steve since back in the day with the Od Brothers, opening for Big Brother and The Holding Co., and others. Steve is one of the best and most original musicians I know. Highly technical with technique at times, and very high tech... He makes it all look easy and simple... And sound exceptionally rare. Always loved your voice big guy

      Sincerely,

      Thomas King

      Probably your biggest fan!

    • You sound great! What a great combination of voices--the harmonies are wonderful and I can't wait to hear the rest of the album!

    • Absolutely lovely! I can't wait to hear more!

    • I've seen CommonUnion 59 perform a few times live and the music is fresh and wonderful. I can't wait to get the CD and see them again....maybe at the Surf Spot in Pacifica? : -)

Keep up the great work and thank you both for sharing the blessings of your beautiful voices, harmony and musical talents with the world...count me in as one of your early fans who said...this group has that special "IT" factor...and will be a big success!

    • Your music is so soothing to the ear... Both songs are truly amazing. Wonderful harmony! Great guitar playing Stevie!! Let me know when your CD is released!!

      Coz Janet

    • ONE WORD TO BOTH OF YOU....AWESOME!
